Since I'm wriggling my toes checking out my own shoes in a lifetime of ignoring that they're there, I looked about for the right way to express my almost-panic at the thought of starting to write. I even decided to take a nap to postpone the start. And then I remembered PG Wodehouse often describing his characters in predicament's like mine as 'the cat in the adage' - wanting the fish, but scared of wet paws for God knows what reason. In my non-cat shoes, the reason is because of appearing utterly foolish, a laughing stock.
But now that I've typed that paragraph, now that the adrenaline of having overcome that hurdle is flowing happily in my veins, I might be hard to stop.
